MQP

From robotics

Every student has to complete a senior project relevant to their major. This project is most often done in senior year, however students have also completed it in their junior year. There are also programs that would enable a student to work on MQP starting sophmore year and continuing into senior year.

According to WPI: Through the senior-year capstone project, students gain real-world design or research experience within their major field. As with every WPI project, you’ll have the guidance and support of your faculty advisors and mentors, while your own passion and ingenuity will be essential to success.

Robotics MQPs

Descriptions of previous recent robotics MQPs can be found at the RBE department's MQP page. Reports for all MQPs since 1999 can be found at the WPI electronic projects collection.

How to get an MQP project

Students can either get involved with an existing project or make their own. Project can be conceived by professors, students, or industry partners. If you are interested in starting a new MOP based off of your own idea, then you must choose an adviser and get them on-board at least 6 months or more before the start date of the MQP. If you have specific lab or or project that you are interested in, you should get involved asap. Sitting in on MQP meetings as early as your sophomore year will both solidify your position within a project and help the project progress successfully in the long term. To get involved with a project contact the adviser, setup a meeting and discuss the important details such as: Will the project continue? Is there a sponsor? What is the budget? what are the limitations of the project?
