MQP/IQP Guidelines

From Deskins Group Resources

The goal of the IQP/MQP is to give you an opportunity to do independent research on an important problem.

Read the Deskins Research Tips.

Look at PQP Guidelines.

My Expectations

1. Come prepared to our weekly meetings. You should prepare a few powerpoint slides showing what you've accomplished, the progress you've made, and what you plan on doing next. Make sure you follow the Deskins Tips on Tables and Charts. Also learn good skills for Making Molecular Images if necessary.

2. Work hard and do not procrastinate. The expectation at WPI is that you should be spending around 14-17 hours per week outside the classroom for each of your classes. You should be putting in similar hours for your MQP/IQP. The challenge is that you don't have homeworks, quizzes, or tests, but a final project report that may be due months from now, so you need to be diligent!

3. Start writing early. The final report is a large document and may be 50-100+ pages. Trying to write this in a week or two is ridiculous. I would like to see a draft of your report at the end of every term. The draft doesn't need to be perfect, but it should show progress. See my Report Guidelines for information on the format of the report.
