CuproCleav-1 is a Cleav-type photocage that was developed by Hannah Mbatia with the assistance of Dhammika Bandara. The receptor is a polythioether with additional nitrogen donor groups. CuproCleav-2 has a 54 pM affinity for Cu+ that decreases significantly in aqueous solution after photolysis. The photolysis results in the cleavage of a nitrogen-carbon bond, which fragments the ligand into two pieces.
