Internships and Jobs

There is no magic trick to getting a job or internship, but this page will give some resources specific to robotics that make the job search easier.

robotics-worldwide Mailing List

The robotics-worldwide mailing list, maintained by USC, is a good place to find internship and job positions, particularly if you are willing to travel. Many companies, including Google and iRobot, post to the list. While the list is international, US-related postings are in the majority. You can subscribe to the list, but keep in mind that it also contains general news and info about journals and meetings; you may want to filter it by the [jobs] tag. Alternatively, the list can be browsed online as a forum, which you can search and filter by jobs and internships.

RoboJobs

RoboJobs.com has a large number of job postings from a variety of companies. There are also internships and research positions, but with less of a focus. The site is searchable, and allows you to post a résumé that can be found by employers.

WPI Career Development Center

The Career Development Center is a valuable resource for job search advice and résumé critiques. When finalizing your résumé, make sure you utilize this resource; you can schedule a resume critique, drop by during their walk-in hours, or go to one of their regular "Resumazing" sessions. Their website also has useful advice for writing résumés and cover letters.

The Center is also a good place to gain interview practice, and has a wide variety of other job-finding services that you can utilize.

Robotics Companies Recruiting at WPI

The following companies actively recruit from WPI at Career Fairs and other events.

Draper Laboratories

Draper Labs is a research laboratory developing technology for a broad scope of problems. Though they don't have a strict "robotics" department, they offer jobs and internships in openings in GN&C (guidance, navigation, and control), autonomous systems, and embedded sensor development.
