PbSensor-1 is one of several small molecule sensors developed by Daniel Kennedy. The receptor is an 18-C-6 macrocyclic azacrown ether ligand. The fluorescence of PbSensor-1 increases with Pb2+ binding in aqueous solution. PbSensor-1 was prepared to demonstrate Pb2+ release from CrownCast-2 upon photolysis.
